What is an eLearning Alternate School Day?
Students do not come to the school building on an eLearning day, but instead teachers will send online - based assignments for students to work on from home. Teachers will be available to answer questions via email during the school day. In the future, an eLearning Day could be announced on local TV and Radio stations in the same way a snow day is usually announced. This announcement would also be sent via school text message and email blast announcement. Students return to school as usual the next day.
Grades 5 - 8 - Students will use their chromebooks and Google Classroom and Google documents to work on online assignments as posted by their teachers the morning of November 8th. Parents and students will receive an email Tuesday morning reminding them to look in their Google Classroom account for their assignments.
Grades K - 4 - Parents will receive an email on the morning of November 8, eLearning Day, with a list of website activities students should complete for their eLearning day work.
These are websites the students already use. The week before, November 2, grade K-4 teachers will send a “practice” website list, with instructions, asking parents to help their students test out the website at home ahead of time, and sign a checklist form to let the teachers know if families were able to connect successfully.
Teachers will be available to students and families by email for questions on an eLearning day.
Completing eLearning Day Assignments: All students have eLearning Day, November 8th, plus the next two school days, to finish the assignments for eLearning Day.
